Garmin MTB Classic Brings Its First Western Cape Leg to Stellenbosch

The Garmin MTB Classic, a mountain biking series backed by Garmin, USN, Specialized and Subaru, is adding a Stellenbosch leg to its calendar on 31 October, held at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate. It’s billed as the series’ first event in the Western Cape, having previously run at Northern Farm in Lanseria, Gauteng.

Riders can choose between 60km, 40km, 25km and 10km routes, with the course linking terrain across Jonkershoek, Coetzenburg, Eden, Mont Marie and Dornier, giving entrants a single ride through several of Stellenbosch’s best-known trail networks and wine estates rather than a lap of one farm.

Early bird entries are open now, with event merchandise limited to the first 300 entrants.

For a town whose trail network already draws regular riders, a dedicated event of this scale on a national series calendar is a meaningful addition, both for the cycling community and for the estates along the route during what would otherwise be a quieter October weekend.
