Boschendal Named South Africa's Best Wine Tourism Experience in Tim Atkin Special Report 2026

Boschendal has been awarded the Medal of Excellence for Best Wine Tourism in the Tim Atkin South Africa Special Report 2026, recognising the historic Franschhoek estate’s wine, hospitality and broader estate experience. The recognition lands in September, coinciding with South Africa’s Tourism Month.

The Tim Atkin South Africa Special Report is one of the country’s leading annual assessments of South African wine, authored by internationally acclaimed wine critic and Master of Wine Tim Atkin. The Medal of Excellence reflects Boschendal’s wine tourism offering as a whole, rather than a single wine or vintage.

Between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, Boschendal welcomed 156,399 guests to the estate, a scale that spans Cellar Door tastings, premium Manor House tastings, Wine Tram visits and in-cottage experiences, alongside daily picnics, Friday Night Markets, weddings and private celebrations, Jeep vineyard tours, and dining at Arum Restaurant, part of the FYN Group. Boschendal’s Wine & Wander Safaris round out the offering, combining wine, vineyards and landscape into a single guided journey through the property.

Founded more than 340 years ago, Boschendal is one of the oldest wine estates in the Cape Winelands.
